WHY COMPETITIVE DANCE?

Dance truly does brilliant things for young people...it teaches responsibility, accountability, discipline, and a strong work ethic to name a few. Individuals who have progressed through our competitive program have not always pursued the performing arts (though many do and do successfully), but all of these incredible young people are some of the most confident, hard working, kind, and humble individuals that we know.

Competition is beneficial in so many ways. It teaches dancers to be resilient, competitive and tenacious but kind, confident in their own abilities regardless of what judges may say or think, and also gives them the opportunity to learn from others… whether it’s other dancers and teams, teachers, or world-renowned choreographers. Many lessons are taught at competitions, at team dinners, etc. We have spent countless hours with dancers on these trips teaching valuable life lessons. Competitions give dancers memories to last a lifetime and a forever dance family!

AUDITIONS
Each season, we hold placement auditions for our Company program. During auditions, dancers will be assessed to be placed with a wonderful team of like-minded and similarly skilled dancers for the 2023/24 season. Auditions provide dancers with future audition preparation and experience, and helps our faculty to place each dancer in routines and groups where we believe they will grow and succeed. Our audition class is also a great way for new dancers to get a feel for our studio environment, and gives an opportunity to bond with your teammates and teachers before the season begins!

OUR COmPETITIVE COMPANY PROGRAM

The Company program is for dancers who wish to enrich their dance experience through additional training, competition and convention opportunities, extra performance opportunities, life-long friendship, and so much more.

This program requires a much higher time and financial commitment from dancers and their families than the 6-Week or Showcase program classes. This includes additional rehearsals and classes, weeks/weekends participating in competitions throughout the season, additional fees for additional costumes, competition fees, travel expenses, and additional choreography fees.

Company members are expected to be the role models for everyone at the studio while inside the studio walls and out. The benefits to this program are endless as so many life lessons and life skills are learned throughout each dancer's journey. Opportunities include elite training, challenging choreography, guest instructors, travel to local, mainland, and US competitions/conventions, audition prep and opportunities, etc. This program prepares dancers for a professional career in dance, however, our primary goal with this program is to help instil valuable life skills and experiences that translate far beyond dance.
